Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami,
Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro-house musician Record producer,
D.J. and music executive. He is the son of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His
father, a former wrestler, also co-founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He
has two older brothers: Kana (sometimes known as Grace), and Kevin (owner
Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress.
He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with
a 1995 B.A. in badminton. He went on to UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a
2nd B.A. He was awarded two degrees, one in sociology, and another in feminist
studies. He recorded DIY music and held underground performances from his Biko
room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative while in college. The
Pickle Patch was born as a concert venue. He also was involved in student
activism at UCSB, being the founder of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League
chapter on campus. In his 20s, Dim Mak had established his own record label,
that he named Dim Mak after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March of 2010
He dropped I'm in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq, a pseudonym of
the Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It hit the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K.
Singles Chart in the very first week of its release. It then entered the U.K.
Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, placing in the top 5 in both
charts. The song was featured in an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in
the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May
interview with HitQuarters, Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter confirmed that
he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on an album. Pollstar named him the
highest-grossing North America dance artist from performances in 2012. He has
collaborated with artists such as Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin
Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise
Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is famous for remixing artists like
Kid Cudi.
