Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada Rachel Anne McAdams was the
daughter of Sandra Kay (Gale), nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams, truck driver
and furniture moving. She is Englishand is Welsh- -, Irishand Scottish. Rachel
started acting at the age of thirteen. She was already appearing in
Shakespearean productions at summer theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors
from York University with a BFA in Theater. After her debut in the episode of
Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) and co-starred on the Canadian
television series Slings and Arrows (2003), a comedy-drama about the trials and
tribulations of a Shakespearean theatre group. She also won an Gemini award for
her performance in 2003.Her breakthrough role in the role of Regina George in
the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly catapulted her onto the short list
of the most popular young actresses. After the film, she was cast alongside
Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a smash in the box office
and quickly became the leading romantic drama for a new generation of movie
lovers. McAdams came into contact with Gosling while filming. They dated until
mid-2007. McAdams then showed her range on screen in the hilarious comedy
Wedding Crashers (2005), the thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday-themed
drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then took on the world of independent
films through Married Life (2007), which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival
and also included Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. After
starring in The Lucky Ones, a military drama State of Play, and The Time
Traveler's Wife (2009), McAdams appeared opposite Jude Law and Robert Downey
Jr. in Guy Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams played
the plucky producer of a failing morning television show in Morning Glory
(2010), the attractive fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in
Paris (2011) Then she returned to romantic drama territory in the hit film The
Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams is also in the film with Ben
Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and also alongside Noomi
Rapace in Brian de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received
ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the Year" Award and the
"Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
